The article considers the issue of food security through the problems of the agricultural sector and, in particular, rural households, using the example of the Lugansk region. The subject of the research is the infrastructural mechanisms that increase the efficiency of
rural households. The aim of the work is to increase the level of state food security through increasing the efficiency of the activities of rural households in the Lugansk region. Scientific research methods used in the work: deduction, analysis, generalization,
synthesis. Mechanisms for the development of rural households are proposed as the results of the work. The scope of the research results is the development of rural households in the region. Scientific novelty – a mechanism of information and communication
technologies as applied to rural households in the Lugansk region. The conclusions are that improving the state food security should be ensured through strategic planning and become one of the most important priorities for the socio-economic development of the
region. A promising direction for the development of the activities of rural households in the region should be the development of information and communication technologies.
